Aquila Safari
Aquila Lodge Safari is only a 1.5 hour drive from Wildepaardejacht. Aquila offers morning- and night safaris and is an ideal destination for kids who love wild animals. You will get transported around the big area in land rovers and you are guaranteed to see the Big 5. It is possible to stay there for 1-2 night in order to have plenty of time. It is a sure winner and a big experience for the kids.
Remember a sweater for the kids in the morning and do not forget your camera.
Crocodile farm
The croc farm is a 20 minutes drive from Wildepaardejacht. The farm is open seven days a week from 9 am to 5 pm. They have more than 1000 crocodiles and guided tours every 45th minute. It is very family friendly. Your kid can try to hold a crocodile and you can buy picnic baskets on the site.

Butterfly world
Butterfly world is an unique experience in the Western Cape Winelands located near Paarl. It is a tropical garden with rich opportunities to see exotic butterflies flying around. Besides the butterflies, the garden has a big playground and a beautiful garden as well as a voliere with birds ready for the kids to feed them.

The Butterfly Garden is located on route 44, Klapmuts (near Stellenbosch and Paarl), Cape Winelands.
Lion Park
Drakenstein Lion Park is a rescue park for mistreated lions and tigers from all over the world. There are 35 lions and tigers in the park and they will get close to the fence so it is possible to get some nice photographs.
On each fence, you can read about the big cats and where they come from. It is even possible to become a sponsor for one of them.
The best time of the day to visit the park is around feeding time at 4 pm. Do not miss the chimpanzee garden located in the park as well.
Giraffe House
Previous guests travelling with kids recommend this place. Besides giraffes, the Giraffe House includes many other animals from the South African wildlife.
Among others, The giraffe – tallest land animal, the eland – the largest antelope, the blue diving antelope – the smallest antelope and the ostrich – the largest bird. You can meet all of the above in the Giraffe House.
You can also see the South African national animal – the springbok and the national bird – the blue crane.
Penguin Boulders Beach
With its sheltered bays Boulder’s Beach is a breeding ground for more than 2000 endangered African penguins.
Furthermore Boulder’s Beach being a part of The Table Mountain National Park is a protected area to which you will be charged an entry fee.
It is ideal to combine a trip to Boulder’s Beach with a trip to Cape of Good Hope where you can watch the cold waters of the Atlantic Ocean on the west merger into the warmer Indian Ocean waters on the east at Cape Point.
You will also pass by the beautiful Chapman’s Peak that is carved in to the mountain on your way.
